Egg-in-a-hole Grilled Cheese Burger

Enjoy a classic grilled cheese sandwich with an egg that is still runny in the middle. This Grilled Cheese Burger with Egg in a Hole is a tasty and filling treat thats great for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 2 slices of American cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat

Using a round cookie cutter or glass, cut a hole in the center of each slice of bread

Butter one side of each bread slice

Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, in the skillet

Add a slice of American cheese on top of the bread in the skillet

Carefully crack an egg into the hole in the bread, being careful not to break the yolk

Season with salt and pepper

Place the second slice of bread, buttered side up, on top of the egg-in-a-hole

Cook until the bottom slice of bread is golden brown and the cheese is melting, about 2-3 minutes

Carefully flip the sandwich and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the second side is golden brown and the egg is cooked to your liking

Remove from the skillet and let cool for a minute

Slice the sandwich in half and serve immediately
